Between new-client names, grocery lists, and your niece’s birthday, there’s just too much to remember. And thanks to the proliferation of blogs, YouTube videos, and news websites, we all consume exponentially more bits of information than our parents did. Can our memories keep up? Now they don’t have to—say hello to EverNote, a “universal human memory extension” that catalogs, organizes, and searches everything you store, from all of your devices. “Memory is the last big thing that hasn’t been heavily augmented by technology,” says Phil Libin, the CEO of the Sunnyvale- and Russia-based company. “My ability to travel is a thousand times greater than it was for my Stone Age ancestors, but my memory hasn’t gotten much better.” Photograph a wine label with your iPhone, for example, and EverNote makes it instantly text-searchable. Click a button in your browser, and it captures the screen permanently for your virtual notebook. Soon, you’ll be able to search a recording of your own voice. One of the coolest aspects of EverNote is being able to tie photos with business cards, so you never have to struggle to match a face with a name again. The product is still in beta testing, so hurry and apply for an invitation. evernote.com
